Fishing Guide and Dockhand positions @ Aikens Lake Lodge

  Winnipeg

Do you love being on a lake? Do you find you can’t wait to get to the cottage and jump in a boat? Is fishing always on your mind? Then why not spend your whole summer at the lake working for a fishing lodge! Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge is accepting applications for Dockhands and a Fishing Guide for the upcoming season.

Aikens Lake Wilderness Lodge is a Fly-in Fishing Lodge located in the Atikaki Wilderness Provincial Park in Manitoba. Aikens is one of Manitoba’s top walleye lakes. Thousands of slot fish (21-27”) are caught every summer with a large amount of guests landing a Master Angler (28”+). We also have opportunities for trophy Northern Pike (41”+) and Lake Trout (35”+), especially early in the season. We provide a first class service, but what distinguishes our staff from other fly-in fishing experiences is the personal service we provide. The knowledge of our Pro-Staff Guides enables them to share and demonstrate high percentage sport angling techniques. Their conversational and angling skills keep our guests informed and entertained every moment of the day.

The dockhand is responsible for greeting guests on the dock every day. Tasks for this position will include, but are not limited to, driving a boat with supplies across the lake to the outpost cabins, loading and unloading float planes, cleaning boats, lawn cutting, chopping wood, preparing shorelunch boxes and assisting tradespeople with various tasks.

Our fishing guides are on the water almost every day, and are expected to keep up with the fish patterns of the lake. They know how to navigate their boats and do so safely. As a fishing guide, you will be required to
teach the guests on your boat how to hook bait and how to fish. You will also be required to clean the fish that your guests catch for shorelunch. When not guiding, the responsibilities include various manual labour
tasks at the lodge.

The successful applicants will be flown in to Aikens Lake at the start of the term, with a flexible end date of late August-mid September.

Aikens Lake provides free housing and all meals for our employees. Employees are housed in shared cabins/rooms. Our staff accommodations are very comfortable and some of the best in the industry. Meals are hearty, plentiful and delicious. Our Chef takes pride in providing our staff with healthy meals.

If you have a great personality, love the outdoors and have a passion for fishing, this might be the position for you!

Please send your resume to julie@aikenslake.com. Only those chosen for interviews will be contacted.
