Job Description: Reporting directly to the Assistant General Manager, the Head Bartender is someone who is charming, efficient and knowledgeable about his craft and running one of the nerve centres of The Fernwood Inn.
The bar is one of the first things that customers see upon entering our pub style restaurant, so establishing a friendly, welcoming neighbourhood pub atmosphere while maintaining order behind the bar are keys to this position.
The Head Bartender understands that customer service and satisfaction always takes priority, but that efficient restaurant operations are what makes it possible. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can run the bar autonomously and an experienced leader with a goal to move up into the management field.
Specific Job Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Operations Manage bar operations with passion, integrity, and knowledge while embodying the culture and values of the Fernwood Inn Consistently monitor product levels and be accountable for liquor inventory and all liquor ordering Assist in any areas of the restaurant when staffing constraints require Effectively manage the bar and bartenders without oversight Manage the bar to meet or exceed standards in food quality, safety, and cleanliness Work continuously to develop our bar menu program. Prerequisites
Proven work experience in the hospitality industry as a head bartender or bartender: minimum of two years At least 19 years of age to legally serve and handle alcohol Permitted to legally work in Canada Current and valid Serving It Right! Certificate required Current and valid Food Safe Basic Certificate preferred
