P2 – Field Technicians x 4

Our client is looking for four Field Technicians for a 12 months contract in Richmond, BC. This position is
a field work and need to have own vehicle.

Responsibilities
As a Field Technician, your duties will include:
 Supporting capital build and network expansion by performing coordination, installation, and
commissioning duties.
 Responding to corrective network problems, perform effective and efficient problem analysis,
rapid troubleshooting diagnosis and prompt repair of equipment to ensure service restoral
objectives are met.
 Coordinating with other technicians and departments as required to maintain service levels.
 Planning and implementing preventive maintenance routines to ensure network standards of
performance are being met.
 Performing cutovers and upgrades on the network as directed by work orders.
 Maintaining “up-to-date” site documentation
 Performing acceptance tests and inspections on newly installed sites and equipment to ensure
results meet design specifications.
 Gaining in depth knowledge of key quality service indicators in geographic area of responsibility.
 Participating in retune activities associated with network optimization and build activities.
 Maintaining inventory of required spare parts and perform regular audits to ensure availability
of spares.
 Administrative reporting of mileage, timesheets, expenses, equipment and deficiency tickets
etc.
 Maintaining a safe work environment, meeting all health and safety requirements including
compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, training and documentation.
 Performing call testing functions, including cellular coverage, hand-off, RSSI, dropped calls
checks etc.
 Locating and isolating sources of radio interference.
 Maintaining current documentation of network sites, complete trouble tickets, incident report
and other required reports in a detailed and organized fashion.
 Working Shifts, overtime, and 24 hour on-call support is required on a regular rotational basis.

Qualifications
 Diploma or certificate in Telecommunications from a recognized technical institute.
 Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the Telecommunications industry, preferably in a wireless
service related role.
 Knowledge on telephony network, cable network, network hierarchy, voice over IP, traffic
engineering and other supporting networks, i.e. Transport, Data/IP, Signaling etc.
 Knowledge on various telecommunication standards and protocols, SS7, SIP, DOCSIS, MPLS,
SONET, etc.
 Must possess a valid British Columbia driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
 Transmission experience with microwave, optical fiber, SONET and TCP/IP protocols.
 Ability to work with minimal supervision.
 Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
 Demonstrated investigative, problem solving, analysis and troubleshooting skills.
 Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
 Standby, overtime and shift work required on a regular basis.
 Ability to travel and work at various remote sites as required.

 Demonstrated strong modeling and analytical skills; a high level of attention to detail and result
required.
 Proficient verbal and written communication skills, ability to drive and to close the discussion
with multi-functional groups
