Job Description:Project Name:Great Plains Power StationDuration: 01-Dec-2022 – 31-Oct-2023Description: This position is responsible for supervision of start up activities at a facility. Responsibilities may include the coordination of field personnel; providing administrative support to start up manager; managing the start-up file system; receiving and tracking start-up documentation; and coordinating completion activities with engineers/project management. Other duties as assigned. Position: Commissioning Startup (CSU) Operator Field Positions: 2nd Class Operator Supervisor: Commissioning Manager Position as a Commissioning Startup (CSU) Operator will be responsible for managing field initial startup operations for a Combined Cycle power plant. This position will be responsible for overseeing the execution of functional testing and interlock tests for a wide variety of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems in conformance with startup commissioning standards and procedures. Candidate will have a Albert/Saskatchewan Class II boiler operator license. The candidate must always demonstrate safe work practices, all work will be performed in a safe manner. Safe work practices for the protection of people and equipment is essential to keep everyone safe on the project site Commissioning Startup Operator position is a challenging, high intensity and rewarding . Candidate needs to be extremely detailed oriented, with a strong aptitude for hands on field work, and the ability to direct construction craft labor to complete the plant commissioning work. Candidate need to be able to communicate both verbally and written with management, client and subcontractors to communicate the work completed or work to be completed. Personnel will develop detailed commissioning plans and procedures to complete the commissioning of equipment and/or systems. All commissioning will be fully documented and tracked to verify the proper execution of all preoperational testing, initial operation and performance testing. Startup Operator will be responsible for safety of all personnel working under their direction, all work will be done in a safe manner. Startup Operator will follow BMCD lockout tagout policies and procedures. Position is a field position and will require candidates to work in substations, power plants, industrial processing facilities at customer locations and will include extended travel (90%). Position will require overtime, weekend, and holiday work based on project needs during critical phases of the startup and commissioning process.    Position Specific Outlines: 2nd Class Operator The 2nd Class Operator is responsible for the operation of the Combined Cycle power plant. Candidate will have experience in operating gas turbines, HRSG, steam turbines and other power plant systems and equipment. Candidate shall have experience with Siemens gas turbines or similar equipment. Activities include but are not limited to:Coordinate plant startup activitiesDirects the initial startup operation activities for a system. Including flushing, blowing and steam blows of piping systems. Coordinates the valve lineup of each system.Coordinate functional tests with other CSU disciplines. Verification of critical interlocks.Experienced in Lockout/TagoutPerform field engineering changesRecord as built engineering changes on drawingsEnsure proper setup and testing of mechanical equipment as per supplier requirementsVerify mechanical equipment is operating at system design requirements.In conjunction with the Foreman coordinate Mechanical Fitter and Mill Wright activitiesTrack, record and report progress on assigned systemsMaintain plant turnover documentationProvide hands on training to client’s operator staffRecord system progress and completion for plant turnover documentationSupport plant operation Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 10 years start-up experience for a similar facility, preferably in supervisory role. Position requires excellent communications skills.
