Job Summary and Responsibilities

EVRAZ North America is looking for a Scrap Inspector to work at their Wheat City Metals location in Regina, SK. In this role you will control all incoming and outgoing traffic and ensure that all customers have and wear all PPE while in the yard. You will inspect all loads and materials according to company guidelines and ensure safe interaction between customers and company equipment. This is a 12-month temporary position.

  • Maintain constant and clear communication with the office, gate security and operators controlling traffic in and out of unloading area

  • Ensure safe interaction with customers and company heavy equipment by maintaining safe distance

  • Direct customers to appropriate unloading areas

  • Check every load and report findings promptly to the office and record noncompliance on inspection form

  • Record VIN on vehicles as required by Winnipeg Police Services

  • Ensure cleanliness around shredder unloading area

  • Call fair and consistent deductions

  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned


  • No experience necessary but previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrapyard/auto part environment will be considered an asset

  • Customer focus: Take responsibility for developing excellent customer service making sure that all customer interactions are handled professionally and expeditiously

  • Communicate clearly and listen carefully in an open candid and consistent manner

  • Team Player: Establish trust with team members, stating clear expectations and recognizes group morale and acts to protect and/or build as required

  • Able to work outdoors for the majority of the day

  • Able to stand for the majority of the day

  • Able to lift 50 lb.

  • Willing and able to work shift work
