SGI is hiring a permanent, full time Safety Officer! We are looking for candidates who are customer-focused with strong communication skills. Our Safety Officer position offers primarily office work with some field work, consistent hours, and every second Friday or Monday off – great for anyone who values work-life balance. Communication is key for the Safety Officer. You’ll help our customers through what are often perceived as stressful situations by clearly explaining SGI’s regulations, standards, and policies, in addition to working with enforcement and inspection personnel. This role will require researching and preparing detailed and complex written reports using Microsoft Office applications. Being a self starter, you are able to work independently in the office and the field as required.
The annual salary range for the Safety Officer position is $66,804 – $84,312.
Requirements
Candidates must bring the education and experience to succeed in this unique opportunity — after all, we’re counting on you. We’re looking for candidates who hold a heavy duty equipment mechanic or truck and transport mechanic journeyperson certificate, valid driver’s licence, and can maintain a CVSA Inspector Certification and Dangerous Goods Inspector Certification. We are also looking for candidates who have at least 5-7 years directly related experience.
