Media Planner’s Role

Following the client brief, create a media plan to align with the budget and set measurable outcomes in terms of digital media channels; for the majority of the work, and other more traditional forms of media, like radio, TV, print or even billboards.

To be successful in this role you will LOVE to plan. Like a conductor, when faced with a complex situation involving many factors, you enjoy managing all of the variables, aligning and realigning them until you are sure you have arranged in the most effective way possible.

How you will spend your time

Media Planning – 50% of your time will be doing this

Manage media planning and strategy for select clients working closely with our Media Director

Negotiate rates with vendors

Campaign Management – 30% of your time will be doing this

Work with a team to actively monitor your campaigns to track performance metrics to make sure it is meeting the advertising objectives

Ensure that media space/time is booked quickly and accurately


Measure and Report – 20% of your time will be doing this

Assist in building post analysis for major campaigns

Prepare and present campaign reports, performance insights and recommendations


Diploma, certificate or degree in any of the following:

Supply chain management OR business administration OR communications OR marketing provide a great foundation to success in this role.

A combination of micro-learning and relevant experience is equal in our eyes.


Experience and why its important

3+ years working as a media buyer within a marketing company

Be familiar with digital marketing platforms such as Google AdWords, Facebook Business Manager, Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager as this role will require daily use of these platforms

Relationship building with clients, trust and mutual respect plus the ability to explain what digital media is to different levels of understand

Relationship building with vendors and suppliers by treating them as equal partners in success; a level of respect that results in suppliers wanting to find ways to exceed your expectations

Relationship building with your coworkers, in office or remote, a mutual admiration for what each person brings to their role.
