About the Opportunity

PNGFP is currently looking for a Production Manager to join our team in Bulolo, PNG.

This is an incredibly unique opportunity to live and work in our self-sustaining township, and take ownership in managing PNGFP’s plymill, sawmill, plywood manufacturing, and pre-fabricated kit homes production divisions.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, your essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Developing and implementing strategy to ensure that manufacturing operations are optimized for efficiency and productivity
Ensuring that the manufacturing division meets the highest standards for all engineered wood products
Overseeing the production of technologically-advanced wood products for export
Ensuring the production of consistently high-quality products that meet customer expectations
Supervising the saw milling, planing mill, and plywood production centres
Maintaining optimum production and recovery rates to keep sound quality control over all products
Coordinating and directing all managers and senior supervisors in their duties
Analyzing production data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
Ensuring continuous supply of all operating materials and liaison with the Training Manager to ensure training programs are carried out
Ensuring that workplace safety standards are upheld, and that employees follow safe work practices and procedures

About You

To qualify, you must have at least 10 years of experience in the timber, plywood, and/or engineered wood products’ industry, as well as a minimum of 5 years of management experience in the industry.

Candidates with formal training/technical education in forestry technology, wood production, forest resources, wood sciences, or wood products & processing, will be highly valued for this position!

In addition, you will also need the following:

Proven leadership experience
Ability to communicate in English (both verbal and written)
Operational management
Problem-solving and excellent analytical skills
Valid passport and unrestricted ability to work and travel as an expat for a minimum of 2-3 years
Prior experience working as an expatriate will be considered a valuable asset, but not required

As a self-starter with a hard-nosed pragmatic approach, you have proven success in prior roles(s) by driving efficiency across your area of responsibility. As a decisive and confident leader, you excel in dynamic environments with limited resources and conflicting priorities.

Lastly, you are an effective communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills. You display resilience and a high degree of maturity, rendering you capable of adapting to a multicultural environment.
