Job description
Provide attendant services to an adult male with a disability, in his private home located in the Elmvale Acres area, and occasionally at an alternate site. Your duties are to perform tasks this person would normally do himself should he not have a disability. Note: Although some of your duties may resemble those of a PSW, you are not hired as a PSW.

Compensation starts at $19.00 per hour, plus a premium ranging between $3.50 per shift, plus 4% vacation pay minus regular payroll deductions (i.e.: income tax, EI and CPP). Payment will be issued bi-weekly, by cheque. Based on employee performance and (on a case-by-case basis) individual situation, significant additional benefits / salary may be allotted.

Tasks and services may include, but are not limited to the following:

-Assist with: transferring (with the aid of on-site mechanical lifting equipment), banking, bowel and bladder routines, dressing/undressing, errands, feeding, filing, housekeeping, meal preparation, medications, personal hygiene, and shopping.
-Respond immediately to emergencies, (e.g.: washroom assistance or injury).
-Be aware of and report promptly to the employer any hazards concerning employee health and safety.

Essential qualifications
-Punctuality, reliability and dependability.
-Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively with the employer and fellow employees.
-Ability to accurately follow direction.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and be worthy of the trust required to provide personal services in the client’s home.
-Good communication skills, both oral and written, in English or French.

There are two (2) positions available.

The shifts to be filled will be distributed among the two (2) successful candidates, based on their availability and preferences. To clarify: any one candidate is not necessarily required to take all (or any) shifts on any given day. There are 13 shifts per week:

Available schedule(s).
-Mondays: 08:00 AM through 10:00 AM
-Tuesdays: 08:00 AM through 10:00 AM
-Wednesdays: 08:00 AM through 10:00 AM
-Thursdays: 08:00 AM through 10:00 AM
-Fridays: 08:00 AM through 10:00 AM

Please note: A slight variance to these times may be negotiated. With time, shifts may be extended or added to the schedule.

It is preferable though not mandatory for candidates to have easy access to a car.
