We’re passionate about the future of the Linux desktop and we’re looking for the right person to help define the future of the Ubuntu Desktop.What you’ll doBuild and lead a globally distributed team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands-on career developmentSupport timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needsEffectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholdersAdvocate and advance modern, agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practicesGrow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company valuesBe an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organisationParticipate in strong engineering process through code and architectural reviewEngage with many other teams at Canonical, as well as the open source community and commercial partnersHelp define the future of the Ubuntu DesktopWork from home with global travel for 2 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external eventsWho you areYou are passionate about Ubuntu DesktopYou have a history of open source software and community experienceYou love developing and growing people and have a strong track record of doing itYou are knowledgeable and passionate about software developmentYou have some experience in leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developers towards delivering timely, high quality softwareYou have solid experience working in an agile development environmentYou have a Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar degreeStrong written and verbal communication skills – ability to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical people, and actively engage in technical discussionsCanonical is proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination.
