Senior Scientist, Process Development, Vital Biosciences



Job Description:Mississauga, ON The Opportunity Our client, Vital Biosciences, is seeking a passionate and creative scientist to fill the role of Senior Scientist, Process Development and Manufacturing Sciences. This role is focused on making liquid and lyophilized reagents and resides within the Clinical Chemistry realm. The ideal candidate is proficient in nanoparticle chemistry and manufacturing / modification, who is also knowledgeable about GMP manufacturing. S/he possesses exceptional leadership skills and experience who can help establish Vital’s process development efforts and serve as a guide and mentor to the associate scientists in their team. This role will involves leading the team from the bench to develop and validate processes for producing the reagents that fuel Vital’s next-generation assays. Vital is constantly optimizing the lab to help push science forward at unprecedented rates. The successful candidate will be expected and encouraged to actively contribute to Vital’s product development direction, and present novel procedural and scientific concepts that will positively impact all aspects of Vital’s operations. The RoleWork in a cross-disciplinary team with the goal of driving innovation of scalable processes related to the manufacture and use of nanoparticles and other reagentsDevelop, optimize and validate new analytics to support Vital’s product pipelineDefine, develop and validate manufacturing processes to support Vital’s product pipelinePlanning, running and/or supervising experiments to support process developmentAuthor, review, and hone Vital’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve quality and accelerate Vital’s product pipelineBe actively involved in laboratory management and leadership of associate scientistsPartner closely to provide manufacturing support to Vital’s research, assay development, downstream formulation, and engineering teams to achieve performance requirements.Architect systems and processes to streamline Vital’s development pipeline and cross-disciplinary integrations (formulation, stabilization, microfluidics, readout)Manage multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environmentCommunicate effectively with peers and leadership to support decision-making, including summarizing results in reports and presentationsContribute to departmental strategies and provide input on lab requirements and improvementsProvide mentorship and leadership in the field of process development The RequirementsPost-graduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related field with 3 years of hands on experience in an industrial GMP settingMinimum 2 years experience in analytical test developmentExpertise in the use of LC/MS for quantitation of analytes from a complex mixtureNanoparticle experience including nanoparticle detection/quantification, nanoparticle-based assay development, nanoparticle characterization and surface modifications will be considered an assetAbility to communicate results and concepts clearly to fellow scientistsA strong data analysis/statistics backgroundAbility to handle a diverse workloadHigh learning agilityAn appreciation of puns The RewardsAn opportunity to change the face of medical diagnosticsWorking with a high-functioning, deeply motivated teamA competitive compensation packageAn environment where one can showcase their talent and know that his/her contributions, thoughts, ideas and expertise are valued every day Please apply through Jobvite.
