Coastal/Marine Engineer* Full-time permanent position* Oakville, Ontario* This role will include some travel and field work* Competitive salary commensurate with experience, bonus, benefits, RRSP plan & ownership potential within the companyYou care deeply about harmony with the environment and enjoy tackling tough challenges – that’s what makes you a great Coastal or Marine Engineer.You’re looking for a firm with a purpose that engages you, a culture that energizes you, and work that excites you.We’re Ian Martin Group ( , and we’ve partnered with our client, an engineering firm specializing in coastal, marine, and riverine engineering with offices across the globe.  They are the only firm in the world dedicated exclusively to marine and coastal projects.  Their employees love working there, because they don’t do cookie-cutter work, they work collaboratively on a variety of diverse, complex, and fascinating projects.Now they are looking to add a new Coastal or Marine Engineer to their growing team.  They are seeking a forward-thinking, creative individual with a strong background in engineering analysis and design of coastal and marine structures.That’s where you come in:As the new Coastal or Marine Engineer, you’ll be responsible for managing and overseeing projects and project tasks.  You’ll use your skillset and experience to compliment the existing team strengths in coastal and marine structures, navigation engineering & risk analysis, offshore wind, coastal protection, restoration, and port engineering.  You’ll also participate in supporting RFP’s, bids, and aid in mentoring more junior engineers.Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you’ll be assigned projects/project tasks and will bring together the necessary resources and team to get it done. You’ll coordinate with internal staff and contractors to pull together their contributions and will communicate directly with clients and agency representatives to ensure success throughout the project.What you will be doing:* Develop/evaluate required technical documents and participate in client meetings* Coordinate with technical staff to utilize coastal resources effectively* Write and coordinate winning proposals, attract new clients, and retain current clients as required* Analysis and design of marine and coastal structures, particularly on the Great Lakes and northern Canada. This will require a strong technical background in marine and coastal design* Project management including planning and monitoring of project scope, budgets, deliverables, schedule* Construction services including construction management and construction observationBeyond your environmental knowledge and expertise, you’re the right fit for the role if you are someone who exemplifies commitment to technical excellence, is motivated, highly organized, and an excellent communicator, is dynamic and personable.If this sounds like you and you’re eager to take on an exciting and diverse range of projects with a collaborative team, we can’t wait to hear from you.Working with our client:This is a full-time, permanent position working, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm.  There is a need for travel, for both domestic and international projects and could require travel for several weeks at a time to support fieldwork as needed to oversee projects.  They offer a competitive annual salary commensurate with experience, plus bonus structure, ownership potential within the company, benefits package, RRSP matching plan and vacation.Qualifications:* Master’s degree in Civil, Coastal, Marine Civil or Environmental Engineering* A minimum of 7-10 years of coastal engineering experience in a consulting or contractor role with a specific emphasis on analysis and design* Strong interest in analysis, design, and implementation related to one or, preferably, more of (Coastal protection, shorelines, port infrastructure, ecosystem restoration, navigation & dredging, metocean, ocean renewable energy etc.)* A minimum of 7 years experience managing projects* Experience developing construction documents including drawing sets, specifications, cost estimating. (Geotechnical experience not required but an asset)* Construction management experience related to the above-mentioned marine or coastal projects* Willingness to travel for domestic and international projects. Occasional assignments, particularly construction supervision, could require extended travel for several weeks at a time* Technical experience focused on the analysis and design of coastal protection and defense structures, coastal erosion, and land stabilization, metocean, dredging and reclamation, coastal planning, and management is considered an asset* Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) considered an assetHow to Apply:Our online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
