Job Description:Our client, an award-winning Tier 1 & 2 automotive facility in Woodstock, ON is currently on the search for an experienced Purchasing Coordinator (Commodity Buyer) to join their team due to an internal promotion. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for controlling costs, negotiating contracts, contract management, building supplier relationships for the requirements and specification of parts/materials required by our Customers. Duties & Responsibilities: Utilize company’s best practices to guide and develop an assigned set of suppliers to achieve improvements and global competitive results in safety, quality, productivity, and costLead assigned suppliers and commoditiesRequest for quote (RFQ) activities; create RFQs, send to suppliers for pricing, compare returned RFQs from different suppliers, provide feedback, total cost analysis, and obtaining approvalCreate purchasing strategy documents for assigned commoditiesResponsible for setting and achieving yearly cost reductions through APR negotiation, VE/VA, etc.Report weekly in team meetings the progress of targets and goalsNegotiating; negotiate with suppliers to get lower pricing, work with suppliers to improve their processes to improve pricing for company through benchmarking and analysisBuilding supplier relationships; quarterly meeting to review performance and cost reduction ideas, supplier site-visits to ensure compliance with company standards and understand process related to costProject management; take lead on projects as assigned by Manager, provide purchasing support to Engineering and Production departmentsParticipate as needed, and interact with other company plants to troubleshoot issues and problem solveEfficiently lead a small group of professionals to achieve shared and personal goalsUnderstanding the required specifications from customers and review drawings (internal and external) Skills, Experience & Qualifications:2-3 years purchasing experience within manufacturing setting (automotive preferred)1-2 years external customer service experienceSuccessful completion of a relevant 2 Р3-year diploma program in Purchasing/ Materials Management/Supply Chain Operations/BusinessCertified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation considered an assetAIAG IATF 16949:2016 Supplier Auditor Certification beneficialProficient Microsoft Office Suite experience; primarily ExcelDetail oriented with a high level of accuracy when producing data and reportsSolid interpersonal skills with the ability to speak confidently in front of groups, as well as communicate with varying levels of individuals; both team members and managementProblem solving skills that reflect versatility and resourcefulness when problem solvingMulti-tasker who can organize priorities and manage time based on deadlines and importanceAbility to communicate is a second language would be an asset This direct hire opportunity offers an overall competitive compensation package complete with salary depending on experience, exceptional health benefits, annual incentive plan, RRSP contribution, ideal location for commuters, room for advancement, and various other perks!
