We are looking to hire female care givers who could provide elder care to my mother-in-law. She is 97 years old and has had recent falls that involved different breaks in her leg, is in a wheel chair and also has dementia. Because of the dementia you must be able to be patient as she has cognitive impairment and takes additional time to do simple tasks. The duties listed below summarize most of the job:
morning care, personal hygiene, shower
brief changing and peri care
exercises – bed and chair
assist with walking
cognitive exercises – card playing, coloring, matching socks
take outside for walks in her wheel chair
cooking and light housekeeping
cuing and feeding at mealtimes
We are looking for individuals for 11-hour day shifts and also looking for individuals who are available to work one-hour shifts to cover transfers and care – we have three of these available per day. You do not need to be able to do all three one-hour shifts in the same day. The 11-hour shift is from 0800 to 1900 daily and the one-hour shifts are 8:15-9:15 am, 12 -1 pm and 6 -7 pm, seven days a week.
