Job Description
THE JOB:
We are looking for a qualified individual to join our team as a Driver Trainer on a full time basis. Position will involve hands-on instruction, in-cab evaluation as well as working in an office environment. Standard shift time of 8 am to 5 pm but there will be a need for flexibility for shift start times to accommodate our fleet requirements. This position will require availability for Saturday training.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
– This position is responsible for testing all applicants (GZ, DZ and AZ) on their driving skills through a road test to ensure they have the skillset to operate our assets.
– Conducting new hire follow-ups, annual road tests with incumbent drivers and post-collision evaluation/remedial training
– Assist with new hire orientation including electronic log training, equipment handling, site tours and yard protocols
– Provide assistance with driver training on route specifics to ensure they have the necessary skills to complete the job safely
– Provide assistance with individuals who may require additional training (driver upgrades) for tasks such as backing, turns and yard moves
– Scheduling appointments with drivers, carrying out training sessions and completion of training records in order to maintain regulatory compliance and meeting industry best practices
– Assisting drivers and support staff with ELD compliance
REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidate will have
– AZ class license, with at least 3 years experience
– Clean driving record
– Excellent communication skills
– Some working knowledge of ELD systems. Experience working within the ELD Peoplenet system would be an asset, but not a requirement
– Strong computer skills including data entry abilities
– Grade 12 education or G.E.D preferred, but not essential
– A good understanding of provincial and local safety laws to ensure the company complies with current safety regulations
– Candidates with previous training/evaluating experience will be given priority consideration
– Successful candidate will need to be an self-motivated individual who works well in a team atmosphere
