stemPlay is seeking a Program Supervisor who can lead and implement our vision, values and strategic direction within the scope of the position. This person will possess a knowledge and passion for STEM programming.

Job Overview

The Program Supervisor will provide leadership in the development, design, delivery and administration of learning experiences for all children enrolled in stemPlay’s before and after school and camps that will contribute to the success and long term sustainability of stemPlay Learning Centre as a community partner and model for child care. All aspects of the Program Supervisor position will be performed while working within the framework of the vision, mission and value statements and policies and procedures of stemPlay LearningCentre, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the Child Care Licensing Manual, and ‘How Does Learning Happen?’.

Requirements/ Expectations – Successful candidates will: • have a clear understanding of ‘How Does Learning Happen?’ and the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. • have strong skill sets in the areas of verbal and written communication as well as supervision of others. • have a sound working knowledge of child growth and development. have a passion and knowledge of STEM programming. have exceptional computer knowledge.

Experience : • Minimum of 2 years in a Child Care Centre (preference will be given to candidates with supervisory/administrative experience in a Child Care setting)

Education : • Registered Early Childhood Educator. • Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR. • Safe Food Handling.

Clearance : • Criminal Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector) dated within the last 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Owner/Operator • Program Development : oversee and the development and implementation of Before and After School Program and summer and school holiday STEM program plans by the employees, ensuring required expectations are followed and that programming and environments are appropriate and evaluated on an ongoing basis Before and After School Program for children 4 to 12 years of age • Human Resources : the incumbent would be responsible for directly supervising Educators to ensure that quality care is provided and policies and procedures are followed. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide support and guidance to Educators, while maintaining positive relationships, and provide ongoing feedback and recommendations through formal and informal performance reviews. • Financial Responsibility : adhering to the annual budget regarding needs for trips, events, visitors, toys, equipment, staffing, other expenditures and projected enrolment. • Health and Safety : ensuring all Educators are adhering to health regulations as defined in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, Middlesex-Elgin Public Health Unit, the Fire Department and stemPlay policies and procedures. • Administration : responsibilities in policy review, maintaining licensing expectations, report writing, registration and orientation of new families, preparation and maintenance of children’s files and employee’s performance related files. • Community Relations : establish and maintain relationships within the organization and the community through interactions at stemPlay Learning Centres.

Skills Required • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. • Ability to evaluate program effectiveness and employee performance. • Computer literacy and demonstrated proficiency in MS Office-Excel, Word, Outlook, Google Docs, and Smart Notebook. Knowledge of Scratch programming and experience with robotics and asset.
