Sous Chef – Cafe 97 – Pine Pass – BC


Job Description Powder King Mountain resort, is looking for motivated, hard-working Sous Chef to join our culinary team. We love what we do! We are located 2 hours North of Prince George BC, beautiful mountain & lake location, staff housing available. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Ensure all menu items are prepared to the highest quality standards, following written recipes and verbal instructions from the Chef • Supervise daily operations to ensure exemplary standards of quality • Assist the Head Chef with the implementation and training of departmental policies and procedures • Assist in establishing recipe specifications and plate presentations • Assist in the development of menus and daily specials • Assist with all requests and communication in the absence of the Head Chef • Monitor the quality of food received in the kitchen and ensure proper standards of food preparation, rotation, and storage are met • Assist in financial management of the operation through effective food costing and labor controls • Lead the development of a workplace culture that places priority on exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction • Provide ongoing and effective leadership, coaching and recognition of all employees to support and reflect Powder Kings core values and initiatives QUALIFICATIONS • Previous experience leading a kitchen team • Food Safe level 1 certification required • Food Safe level 2 an asset • Capable of setting and ensuring the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and quality • Knowledge of food costing and labor management • Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards • Understanding of use and maintenance of kitchen equipment • Effective decision making skills • Good communication skills (verbal, listening, writing) • Strong organization skills • Good training/facilitator skills • Ability to work early and/or late hours in order to comply with the operating times of the food & beverage operations seven days/week We are looking for a full-time, permanent managerial team member.
