Crew Leader and Crew Members

Focal Point Landscape Design and Installation is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our award winning team. We offer competitive wages based on a comprehensive career ladder within our company. Benefits are also available. We are currently seeking a crew leader and 2-3 crew members.

Crew Leader:

As a landscape crew leader an individual must be well rounded in all aspects of landscape horticulture. Preference will be given to those with a red seal designation and a class 3 license. Crew leaders are expected to be driven by a positive attitude and have the ability to motivate those around them in working together to deliver high quality workmanship and production all while adhering to our safety policy. This is a full time seasonal position from April to December. Winter employment can be available to those interested. Crew leaders are expected to be well versed in but not limited to the following skills and responsibilities.

– time and material tracking via mobile app

– communication and interpretation

– direction and leadership

– surveying

– grading and drainage

– interlocking stone

– retaining walls

– natural stone

– landscape lighting

– irrigation

– plan reading

– basic carpentry

– vehicle, equipment and machinery operation and maintenance

– hand and power tool operation and maintenance

– abide by and enforce safety protocol

– planting – trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals

– sod installation

– topsoil placement

– creation of garden beds

– weeding

– general plant care and pruning

– edging

– customer relations

Crew Members:

As a landscape crew member an individual must possess a positive attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to his or her crew. Preference will be given to those with a desire to build a career in the landscape industry and or interest in an apprenticeship. Candidates must have a valid drivers licence and clean driving record. This is a full time seasonal position from April to December. Winter employment can be available to those interested. Crew members are expected to work with a team of 2-5 people carrying out a wide variety of landscape tasks such as but not limited to the following:

– communication and interpretation

– take and execute direction

– grading and drainage – raking, wheelbarrowing and surveying

– interlocking stone, laying, lugging, cutting

– retaining walls, installing, cutting, lugging

– basic carpentry

– vehicle, equipment and machinery operation and maintenance

– hand and power tool operation and maintenance

– abide by safety protocol

– planting – trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals

– sod installation

– topsoil placement

– creation of garden beds

– weeding

– edging

– customer relations
