The pandemic struck a new sense of reality into many people. Why are you relying on grocery supply chains? Why are people starving on the streets? Why do your kids play video games for hours on end and never go outside? Class division is real. Food is getting more expensive for everyone. The majority of farmland in Canada is unhealthy monocultures.
This summer I urge people to tear up their front lawns and build a community based around food collectivization. Excess food can be donated. Children can be educated. We can all contribute.
F*** city bylaws. As a trained botanist, historian, and young philosopher I encourage all of us to over-produce food this summer. In the winter what if grocery supply chains run short? Let’s be realists. Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. Let’s use this pandemic to become more sustainable. Let’s ensure no child starves. Let’s get to know our neighbors.
