Network Tools & Automation Specialist



Job Description:Reporting to the Manager, Network Foundations, the Automation and Tools Specialist isaccountable to develop, configure, maintain and optimize the tools used by the network team tosupport Suncor’s diverse range of network equipment around the globe. You will use your expertise to:Use your knowledge of Python to develop automation solutions, leveraging software APIs to tap into the capabilities of our toolsetWork with the network team to come up with new ideas on how to automate network tasks, accelerating time to resolution of network issues, and streamlining execution of provisioning requestsEvaluate network management software to determine the best solutions to meet our requirements, and then install, configure, and support these solutionsProvide subject matter expertise in support of project teams seeking to deploy new solutions in a low maintenance mannerAssist in the development of better processes, and process documentation, for those things which cannot be automatedWork with vendors to remediate issues with software products used in managing Suncor’s network services We’d like to review your application if you have Must-haves (minimum requirements):A post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking Technologies, or equivalent experienceThree years of programming / scripting experience using Python or a similar language to develop automation solutions, with a keen interest in growing your skill set in this areaDemonstrated Linux and Windows administration experience, including installing and supporting applications on these platforms Preference for:Network operations and/or design experience, including troubleshooting of IP networking technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, as well as Cisco and Juniper networking productsKnowledge of network monitoring systems and protocols, such as SNMP and SyslogKnowledge of technologies commonly used in developing software solutions, such as SQL, cloud platforms (PaaS), Git, Ansible, Agile, containers, etc. Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.Suncor follows a hybrid work model of 3 days a week in the office (Tue-Thu) and 2 days per week working from home.Some off hours work for planned changes and on-call duty is required Note: Exact location Will be provided during the interview Job ID: 43010434
