ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Methanex is currently seeking a Millwright Technician to join the team in Medicine Hat, AB on a full-time basis.

The Millwright Technician provides superior craftsmanship in the safe, efficient, and effective maintenance and repair of rotating equipment systems in the Medicine Hat plant.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Install, maintain, and repair rotating equipment including turbines, compressors, fans, pumps, and gearboxes
  • Perform predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance using procedures such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, precision laser alignment, and various other maintenance techniques
  • Perform time-based equipment procedures such as inspections, oil changes, filter changes, overhauls, and greasing
  • Mitigate equipment failures or reliability issues while keeping safety and quality as a top priority
  • Document equipment history and complete detailed reporting of equipment inspections and repairs
  • Source, order, and inspect new/used equipment parts and components as required
  • Build strong relationships with key Rotating Equipment vendors
  • Read and interpret equipment and process drawings
  • Create and manage work orders, requisitions, etc. in a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Act as relief rotating equipment supervisor, when required
  • Orient and train contractors, new hires, and/or summer students
  • Improve individual and organizational performance through coaching for success
  • Work Safety Control System Performing authority: assist to ensure all safety precautions are taken, job hazards are known, job hazards are mitigated, and site policies/procedures are followed
  • Conduct Safety audits, participates in site safety meetings, and contribute to site safety initiatives
  • Contribute to and participate in the GRET (Global Rotating Equipment Team) as required
  • Propose ideas to improve plant performance and reliability
  • Ensure compliance with all Pressure Equipment Integrity Management (PEIM) responsibilities, as per the PEIM Manual

ABOUT YOU


To qualify, you will need a trade certification as a Journeyperson Millwright along with at least 3 years of experience working in a chemical plant atmosphere and a valid Alberta driver’s license. A Red Seal Millwright Trade Certification is an asset unless you are an out-of-province applicant, in which case it is a requirement.

Additionally, the following assets would be preferred, but not required:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic may be considered contingent on related equipment experience
  • Certification in First Aid, Confined Space, Fall Protection, or other relevant safety and trade-specific training
  • Strong knowledge of steam turbines and other types of rotating equipment such as compressors, fans, pumps, and gearboxes
  • Experience in commissioning & start-up of plant facilities
  • Solid knowledge of alignment tools such as lasers and dials
  • Solid precision measuring skills
  • Understanding of basic vibration analysis and oil analysis
