This position is not confined to shop activities as the Automotive Mechanic may be required to perform field work on down buses. * Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses * Diagnose equipment problems * CVIP Inspections * Respond to breakdowns * Spring and winter maintenance * Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs * Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities * Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines Requirements * Journeyman Ticket * Own hand tools * Fluent in written and spoken English * 2 – 5 years of related experience * Valid Driver’s License (Class 2 or 3 considered an asset) * CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset * Exposure to working on diesel engines * Analytical and troubleshooting skills * Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors) * Computer proficiency Remuneration * Commensurate with experience * Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday) * Employee Benefits Plan (after 3-month probation) * Group Registered Retirement Savings (RRSP) Plan (available after 12 months) * Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date – available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year) Company Description SOUTHLAND Transportation Ltd. is committed to safety and service in the people transportation business.
